i looked, and looked a second time.
there're no new messages.

thought i heard the familiar ringtone
so i took up my phone, wanting to say hello to you.
i listened, and listened again.
there is just silence.

thought i heard you say my name
so i turned around, wishing to see your familiar face.
i searched all around.
but i just couldn't find you.

then i thought i saw two dark figures in front.
it must have been another illusion, but wait,
one of them looked like you.
and under the moonlight, i saw what i had dreaded.

i'll watch you fade away.
